BILL YOUNG

Meet Bill

Bill's life is a narrative of dedication and service, deeply rooted in his South Carolina upbringing. After graduating from Chapin High School, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, embarking on a journey that would define his commitment to his country. His military career, which included specialized training as an Artillery Fire Direction Controlman and a deployment to Iraq with the Task Force Military Police, set the foundation for his unwavering dedication to service.

Following his honorable discharge in 2010, Bill channeled his discipline and leadership skills into furthering his education at North Carolina State University, where he earned a degree in Economics. During his college years, Bill not only focused on his studies but also dedicated his time to the Wake County GOP and played a significant role in founding The Veterans Life Center. This facility was designed to aid homeless veterans or those struggling with the transition back to civilian life, providing them with crucial training and support services.

The next phase of Bill's career saw him entering the financial world as an advisor with AXA Advisors. However, the personal tragedies of losing several Marine comrades to suicide profoundly affected him, steering his path towards mental health advocacy. It was during this period that Bill discovered golf as a therapeutic outlet, which led him to engage deeply with veterans' support networks through golf, including Fairway for Warriors and PGA HOPE Charleston.

His passion and dedication eventually led Bill to significant roles within the Veteran Golfers Association, where he was instrumental in building camaraderie and support among veterans. His leadership and commitment were recognized when he was named the South Carolina State Director and later, the South Regional Director of the Year. Bill’s journey, marked by service to both his country and fellow veterans, illustrates his profound commitment to advocacy and community support, anticipating his continued impact on the constituents in South Carolina's 1st District.
